Summer was busy with travel for work and play, along with soul-searching to figure things out. In order to clear my mind, I removed distractions, extra expenses and focused on what was important to me.
Part of what I gave up was my Clackfit gym membership. I didn’t want to waste money while spending more time at work or traveling. While I had my 24 Hour Fitness membership and could attend the Body Pump weight training classes, what I missed was the sense of focus I had at Clackfit.
The best thing about going this gym is knowing you get a balanced workout tailored to your fitness level in under an hour. Plus it’s like having a personal trainer every time you go to the gym. There is no music, no shoes, no creeper dudes, just regular people working to get fit.
I pushed myself on my first day back and I knew I had to temper my enthusiasm so I can walk the rest of the week. It was my “favorite” day, hamstring and glutes, all the other muscles were included but those were the focus. Whenever it got too hard, I chanted in my head (buns of steel, buns of steel, buns of steel…) somehow that chant would get me through it. Plus the other members encouraged you to keep going.
It’s great to workout with people who encourage you even if they don’t know you. You’re all on the same mission, to be a healthier, fitter version of yourself. You don’t want to give up and you don’t want the people around you to give up either. This sense of positivity and community is what keeps me going to the gym even when I’m tired. I know once I get there, when I run out of motivation, someone will inspire me. I hope I can do the same for them.
If you don’t feel a sense of community at your gym, try Groupon deals to check out different types of workout facilities in your area. Whether you like yoga, TRX, crossfit, bootcamp, zumba or barre, the variety will keep you from getting bored until you find your place. I discovered Clackfit on Groupon and stayed because Yusuf Clack, the founder, treats you like a friend while training you like a beast. Cheers beauties!
